Exercise for anxiety & depression
Chronic stress does not feel good. Moving your body and building strength nurtures healthy stress management and helps build resilience to the physiological and psychological effects of chronic stress.
The stress response is an automatic response designed to keep us safe and alive. Stress can have positive impacts on us, such as support motivation, drive, and performance; but when chronic and unmanaged it can lead to nervous system imbalances and related struggles with physical health, emotional health, social health, and mental health.
Exercise builds resilience to chronic stress and is considered vital to elevating and stabilizing mood, improving sleep, decreasing tension, improving focus, regulating body functions, and generally feeling safe and secure. All of these things are often impacted by anxiety and depression.
